iSight

iSight

Now I finally have one and I am already thinking about getting at least a second one. probably a third one, too and then as many as needed. then i will update the insides and use them at least to get live video for the exhibition i will be doing eventually.

While checking where to get 3d printed parts from, I found some place online that prints the parts for about 5 dollars including shipping. That surprised me a lot, because just week I went to the nearest DIY shared place and they would charge me about 5 times as much. 20 for the printer, 10 for the place itself and upcharge for every then minutes after 1 hour of printer use. And i had to get my own material.

Guess that is why there aren't really a lot of 3d printing places around anymore. I seriously wanted to support that shop, though. Never been there before, so I don't really care about the owners, but I think the idea of giving a public place to let people work on projects and provide machines and (possibly) knowledge is what i liked about it. 5 dollars without me having to do anything trumps 50 dollars and having to do all the work, though.

Here it is in all its glory. Somehow I don't want to tear it apart, though. Might check if the original parts still work on my old macbook with fire wire. Well, if it does, I want to tear it apart even less.

Well in the end I need at least two, for possible shows, where I would use them for live video manipulation and maybe I also do some spontaneous live stream video manipulation. Should be doable. But then again: fire wire used to connect about 60 of them at the same time. Wont work with boring usb.

Anyway, at least there is something to do, before I myself through raspberry pi again. I am trying for weeks to get a camera stream on a small lcd display, but to no avail.
