Ryuichi Sakamoto Exhibition

Ryuichi Sakamoto Exhibition

Seeing Sound, Hearing Time

Whenever there is any exhibition or event that has any remote connection, I will be there and it never disappoints.

I think in the past 15+ years i never missed any of them, Sakamoto, Alva Noto, Manabe Daito, Rhizomatiks, Dumb Type... I would even love to work for any of them, or any related companies, just sign me up...

The exhibition took place at the MOTA in Tokyo, a nice building, with a nice (non-public) library. Only Design21 looks better.

Anyway, main issue was actually getting tickets, since entry got limited after the exhibition was running for a while... Probably way too many influencers there for the fog installation. That is the only reasonable explanation that i have. As I said, I go to all of those exhibitions and they don't have too many people there usually. Even the Sakamoto exhibition that took place like 6 month ago wasn't too crowded.

It was worth the trouble, though. Not much to say about it, a lot was installations and sound installations made by people who worked with Sakamoto, the main draw was probably the fog installation (got to admit it was nice, you couldnt see anything that was further than maybe 50cm away), personally I mainly go for the sound and I don't even like the classical music. The part I liked the most was an installation that simulated water drops. It was actually real water drops falling from the ceiling into some sort of pond, or bucket if you want to. Got to figure out how to make a miniature version of that for my living room.

So far it has been the best of his exhibitions that I went to. They even had a full store with merchandise for that. It was just way too crowded and obviously about half of the audience didn't really have any idea what they are watching. Pictures werent really allowed everywhere and to be honest I don't like taking too many anyway, so you have to live with what I post here.
