Ukiyo-e 浮世絵

Ukiyo-e 浮世絵

After a while now I have been to a museum, mainly because I got tickets for free and I wanted to see one exhibition anyway. The one I wanted to see turned out to be boring and too focused on anime, but at least it was interesting to see how they made it. They showed a video that highlighted the connection between ancient japanese art and modern anime.

And since we have been there anyway, we decided to go to another exhibition in the building nearby, after checking out the museums regular collection.

This one was about modern versions of japanese woodblock printing and was surprisingly good.

Various artists from various genres used their own unique style to produce one or more woodblock prints, often in collaboration with traditional japanese woodblock printers.

To my surprise even Beat Takeshi had some prints on display, I didnt even know that he did any.

Then one of my favourite artists (Paul Wunderlich) also had some works on display. I already forgot about him, but liked his artworks a lot years ago, even got some coffee table books with his works.

The pictures are not that good, unfortunately. Time to get a camera, wanted to go into photography/video work anyway...
